[ Though they no longer need to come to the vending machines to eat, they still call to Ponta like a siren's song. Some of the drink options here make him think fondly of friends from home. Others... others are baffling.
[ this is how i learned there's an apple fanta?????
anyway, datz appears! and is suddenly leaning over ponta's shoulder to check out this bottle. ]
Hey, whatcha got there?
[ ...blinks. well. ok! ]
Huh! Is this a thing?? Sounds kinda nasty.
[ but not nasty enough to make him lose his appetite at all, as he takes a bite out of an apple. which he's probably crunching right in ponta's ear, i'm sorry. ]
[ Ponta doesn't startle at the sudden approach - though it makes him understand a little why others get so spooked by him showing up out of nowhere sometimes. Woops. ]
It shouldn't be a thing, but there's a fully stocked supply in there... Well, it being vegan makes it a little less concerning, I guess?
[ As he walks over, Ponta waves with the arm that's not carrying a basket. The contents of his basket are... increasingly expensive and outlandish ingredients rather than anything straight-forward. It's fine. ]
at some point datz ends up at the vending machines since the convenience store's a smoldering crime scene now, but then he just kind of stands there because nothing looks any good at the moment and he doesn't know what the hell he thought he wanted when he came over here anyway. ]
[ The atmosphere in Fox house is off. Not only is Norma not there, all of the Foxes have found themselves holed up in their respective rooms. It's nothing like the bright communal warmth that Ponta had grown so used to in the last two weeks. So even as he hadn't planned on leaving his room at all until trial, the silence drives him outside anyway.
Maybe moving his feet will do him some good? Maybe.
And before he really knows it, he arrives at the vending machine, to stare at the labels that ring so familiar to him. He doesn't even like coke that much, but... Cota, what would you do?
Only he's not the first one here. Ponta has no smile in greeting today. ]
[ ah. he steps aside out of the way so that he's not blocking any of the machines when he's no closer to figuring out what he wants. instead he leans against the side of one of them, crossing his arms... and sighs. ]
...Yeah, same. Norma had a big presence, can't be easy to miss that.
[ grabbing a coffee at the cafe because this has been one of the most exhausting weeks of his life...
ah.
he gives a nod of acknowledgement as he steps away from the counter with a cup in hand. he wasn't oblivious to the looks he got at the end of that trial but was too preoccupied to care at the time. he doesn't have any intention of shying away from it, though; he's never been much for hiding things. ]
[ Ponta is a hypocrite to even think of Datz as a hypocrite, but sometimes that's what murder town makes of you. As a result, he doesn't super want to talk to the man right now, but... Well, they're here now.
Outside of the high tension context of the trial, and with the execution over and done with, Ponta is not nearly as bristly anymore. ]
[ It's evening and Ponta has now involuntarily shared a good amount of his Greatest Hits (citation needed) with people he passed in the street. He is a fairly private person and he is not happy about this.
All he wants is to get home without another incident and....... nope. There's Datz on the plaza in front of the dorms, and here's his comic book panels not even waiting for a greeting before playing another memory. Weirdly, Datz will get the sense that Ponta is not in control of himself during this memory. There is a distinct feeling of being trapped within your own head associated with it. ]
... don't feel obligated to watch this.
[ Ponta mutters it, but he's given up. Okay, what's it this time, memory effect? He'll watch, too. ]
[ Hello Datz, we are now both on the 30 minute train ride to the hot springs. It's been a good bit since we left the station, and Ponta is peering out the window curiously. ]
This is definitely the furthest they've ever let us go. Wonder if we'll see any neighbouring towns in the distance?
Mhm. That's the question, isn't it? Can you decide which one is creepier - there being nothing at all except for this place, or there being a whole world out there just ignoring Oceanside? Because I've been stuck on that for a while.
[ A whole pocket world for this cruel game would be... exactly the kind of wild shit the Moon would pull, at least. ]
[ It feels good to no longer be a prinny. Ponta doesn't emit a lot of emotions generally, but there is definitely a sense of satisfaction to be alive and human radiating off him when he runs into Datz again after the chaos of initial reunions. ]
So, turns out prinnies really didn't evolve anything. Good to have an answer finally.
[ It's a callback to their very first conversation that feels like it was two centuries ago now.
There are more important things to talk about but. That somehow comes to mind first. ]
[ meanwhile datz is just radiating happiness and relief that this actually worked at the moment. and he breaks into a grin because he totally gets that callback. ]
Week 0, Tuesday
Currently he is holding a bottle of... Vegan Goat Pus Lemonade? ]
... I wonder if anyone would even want to use a Bottleman of this....
[ He is deep in thought, staring this bottle down. Help break this spell, please. ]

Now that I'm out of it though, I feel like it was kind of fun to experience for a few hours.
